Wins of the Week; 3
The week that just went by was a really good one. It was extremely busy, but not the kind of busy that plagued me last quarter. It was a different, lighter kind. The kind where I truly felt like every moment counted. Here’s a quick review of some things worth celebrating:
- Initiating a big German-USA hangout at Brummi’s and getting some stellar German food while meeting the ever eccentric Veronika. Wow that seems so long ago.
- Taking a step back and noticing the progress one of my autistic kids has made since the day I started working with him. It’s slight, but it’s progress. I wonder what it would be like if I could re-experience him at day one, and then return to his current state. How sharply it would contrast.
- Stepping out of my comfort zone to say TWO very different, but very important things I wouldn’t have if I didn’t value things over comfort. Both paid off in very different ways. It’s all about just taking a deep breath and going for it sometimes.
- Truly acting on my belief that I’m not just a passive passenger of my relationships
- The house’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Gift Exchange- enough said.
- Making a few more mistakes while teaching, but learning from them.
- Making choices that prioritize people over things
- Getting to spend some quality time with Chris, Tim, Ryan, among others.
- Going to my first “real” yoga class, enjoying it, and reconnecting.
I’ve been asking myself at the end of each day if the stuff I did mattered. For this week, I think it worked well.
