In The Moment

One of the things I got out of the random yoga class I happened to find myself in this weekend was that yoga peeps are all about being in the moment. At least during the yoga session, but that’s something I’ve been working on a lot lately. Taking in a breath while in a difficult position while being highly aware of the openness of your back, the depth of your armpits, or the limits of your tendons. To oversimplify things, it was all about escaping from the mindset that things would be different if. Things simply are as they are.

The class didn’t emphasize this, but for me, things as they are are great.

I can’t take for granted ever the amazing people I’m surrounded by. The fact that my life consists of walking on to a beautiful campus and studying stuff that matters to me. I’m busy, yes, but I’m busy juggling spending time with amazing people, writing- which I love, studying things I think matter, and helping autistic kids. It’s a great job, too. I teach social skills, and I get to have a lot of fun while doing so. I’m really, truly, living a dream.

Wouldn’t want to be anywhere other than where I am at this point. I’m willing to grow and move, but I don’t find myself wanting much more than what I have. It’s a great place to be.
